Chelsea reach agreement for Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria

Chelsea’s aggressive summer recruitment strategy has taken another step forward with the club reaching an agreement to sign Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria. The 28-year-old is set to join Xabi Alonso’s squad in a deal worth a fixed €19 million, with a further €2 million in potential add-ons.

Adding depth to the backline

The arrival of Chavarria marks the latest addition to a busy window at Stamford Bridge. Under Alonso’s direction, the club has sought to reshape the squad, with Chavarria joining a list of summer arrivals that includes Valentin Barco, Maxence Lacroix, and Jordan Henderson, among others.
